Save the NDN refers to the original phrase “Save the man, Kill the Indian” to promote assimilation during Boarding School Era. Save the NDN is a play on words stating We ARE STILL HERE! This photo is inspired by the Native youth in our family who are STILL HERE and will always be here. They take up space proudly even in modern subcultures while still celebrating material culture by proudly wearing traditional heirlooms.
